🎹 Ultimate Pianist

The first Ultimate Pianist Online Piano Recital

One evening, one piece each, in the Grand Concert Hall. Open to players of all levels and pieces of all styles, from classical to modern to pop to jazz. Connect a MIDI keyboard, or let the hall hear your real piano through your microphone.

What piece do you want to play?

Think about it and let us know in your signup. A name and an email is all it takes; the piece can wait until you've decided.

How the evening goes

A recital, the way a recital works: everyone in one room, one pianist at a time, and applause in between.

  1. 1The hall fills upEveryone walks into the Grand Concert Hall a little before 2pm PDT / 5pm EDT. The voice room is open, so say hello, and if you are performing, test your sound.
  2. 2Lionel calls the first pianistThe running order is read out in the hall. When it's your turn, click the concert grand and press Play now.
  3. 3You play your pieceUp to 10 minutes at the grand. Everyone in the hall hears you: through the game's piano if you're on MIDI, or through your microphone if you'd rather they hear your real instrument.
  4. 4The audience applaudsReactions, applause and an 8-star rating from the seats, and then the next pianist takes the bench. That's it. No scores, no bracket, no judges.

Two ways to be heard

You choose when you sit down at the grand. Both work from any computer running the game in Chrome or Edge.

🎹 MIDI

Your keys, the hall's grand.

Plug in a MIDI keyboard. Every note you play is relayed to the hall and rendered on each listener's own game piano, so it works for everyone, guests included. Your voice chat is untouched.

🎤 Microphone

Your real piano, as it really sounds.

An acoustic piano, a digital piano through its own speakers, or any instrument: pick the microphone option when you sit down and the hall hears your audio. Your mic is muted in the voice room while you play, so nobody talks over you.

Why a recital

The talent I've seen from Ultimate Pianist players is absolutely incredible. Our tournament last weekend drew pianists and spectators from all over, and everyone loved the music. The brackets and the scoring were fun, but the moment that stayed with me was simpler than that: a pianist at the grand, a hall full of people listening, and the applause afterwards.

So this time there is no bracket and nothing to win. Just the hall, the piano, and your piece. Bring whatever you love to play, at whatever level you play it.

The most important thing? Have fun.

Questions

Do I need to be good?
No. This is a recital, not a competition: nothing is scored, nobody is eliminated, and the audience is other pianists who know exactly how it feels. If you can get through a piece, you can play it here.
What can I play?
Anything. Classical, film music, pop, jazz, video game themes, your own composition. The piece doesn't have to be in the game's catalog, because you're playing the hall's open grand, not a game level.
What do I need?
A free Ultimate Pianist account and a piano. On MIDI, a keyboard plugged into your computer; on the microphone option, any piano and a mic (a laptop's built-in mic works). Use Chrome or Edge on a computer.
How long can I play?
Up to 10 minutes at the grand on recital night, so a piece or two. If you have something longer in mind, pick a movement.
What if I just want to listen?
Sign up as audience and we'll email you when the doors open. On the night, walk into the Grand Concert Hall and you'll hear every performance from your seat.
What time is that for me?
2:00pm PDT / 5:00pm EDT / 11:00pm CEST. The game shows the start in your own time zone once you're signed in.

See you in the hall
